Born in Tokyo. After graduating from Nihon University's College of Art, she made her debut as a scriptwriter in 1988. In 2007, she won the HBF Prize for Writing Award（The Hoso Bunka Foundation Award) and the Hashida Award for “Haken no Hinkaku.”(The Dignity of a Temporary Worker). In 2013, she received the Kuniko Mukoda Award and the Hashida Award for ‘Hatsukoi’ (First Love) and “Doctor-X: "Surgeon Michiko Daimon.” In 2025 she received the Commissioner’s Special Commendation, Agency for Cultural Affairs. Other works include “Yamato Nadeshiko,” (The Perfect Woman), the NHK morning drama “Hanako to Anne,” the NHK historical drama “Saigo Don,” “The Travel Nurse,” and the NHK morning drama “Anpan,” (Anpanman) and many others.
